Bike to Work Day 2013

We had over 300 people bike-in for breakfast yesterday between the Horizon Drive and City Hall kiosks!!!  Among the impressive groups to bicycle-train in, 79 Mesa County Health Department employees wearing golden Bike Month shirts arrived en masse.

That was a fun-filled month of free bike classes, rides, food and prizes, and it could not have been possible without our local organizations and businesses.  Please see below for a list of 2013 Bike Month sponsors to tell them thank you and support their business.  And thank YOU for joining the fun!

Mesa County Health Department
Rocky Mountain Health Plans
Crossroads to Health & Fitness, Inc.

Please sir, may I have some more bike lanes to free-wheel on?

bicycle in for a free breakfast...or two

Wednesday, June 26th is Bike to Work Day
There are two delicious FREE breakfasts celebrating Bike to Work Day: one at Crossroads Fitness Center (2768 Compass Drive) from 6am to 9am, and one at City Hall lawn (6th & Rood) from 6:30-9:30am.

Just a reminder to check your bike carefully (especially the ABCs: air, brakes and chain!) before you bring it out to ride on Wednesday. If you need a last-minute tune-up or repair, we have lots of wonderful bike shops in the Valley that can help you. Also, no matter where you are biking on Wednesday (or any other day), remember to obey traffic laws and be careful of cars who may or may not see you.

That evening, head down to the After-Work-After-Glow at the new Edgewater Tap & Grill (9th and Riverside Pkwy) and celebrate with food & drink specials for bikers from 5-6:30pm. We'll also be drawing for great prizes and although you don't need to be present to win, it's going to be a lot of fun!

Complete details at www.gvbikemonth.mesacounty.us, including a Commuter Convoy map to bike as a group on Wednesday morning!
